Resources/Tool

Most rotas pass compliance and still wear people down. Build a week and see where.

Click any shift to cycle Off, Early, Late, Night. We flag quick returns, long runs of nights and backward rotation as you go. This is a sketch of what a fatigue review looks at first.

What we found · 3 flags

Crew A, Sat · 6 days without rest

Crew B, Thu · Night 4 in a row

Crew C, Wed · Quick return: 8h rest

A real review goes further: incident and absence data laid over the rota, and conversations with people on every shift. Then we help redesign the work.

Rules simplified for illustration.

What it checks

01
Quick returns Less than 11 hours between the end of one shift and the start of the next.
02
Long runs of nights More than three nights in a row, when sleep debt builds fastest.
03
Days without rest More than five working days before a day off.
04
Backward rotation Lates into earlies, or nights into lates. Forward rotation is easier to recover from.

How to use it

Five minutes, three steps

00:00

Start from the example

Four crews, one week. It already has three flags in it.

00:02

Copy in your own week

Click cells to match a real pattern from one of your sites.

00:05

Read your flags

Each flag names the crew and the day. Three or more is a pattern worth looking at.

Why we made this

"Most rotas I review are compliant. Very few have been checked for how tired people will actually be. This builder is the first five minutes of that check."
